Department of Corrections HQ moving to Dockyard

The Department of Corrections’ Headquarters will move from Happy Valley Road, Pembroke, to the Clocktower in Dockyard on Wednesday.Government advised members of the public who need to make canteen payments for inmates that from February 1, the Accountant General’s cashiers’ desk on the ground floor of the Government Administration Building on Parliament Street will be accepting monies.Payments will be accepted Monday to Friday from 9am to 4.30pm and all payments must be accompanied by a canteen form.News of the move was announced during the Budget debate in February last year.A sum of $408,000 was earmarked for the headquarters to move into a vacant chart room on the top floor of the Clocktower Mall in Dockyard.Commissioner of Corrections Edward Lamb said at the time: “Our current site is in desperate need of renovations and we are vacating these premises in order for Public Works to do so.”
