Coaches on fact-finding mission to Canada
National netball coaches Gina Benjamin and Anthony Mouchette have been afforded the “wonderful opportunity” to broaden their horizons in Calgary, Canada.
The pair, who departed for Canada on Thursday, are among those attending the two-day Americas Federation of Netball Associations coaching seminar.
Benjamin is the head coach of Bermuda’s senior national team while Mouchette heads up the Bermuda Under-16 coaching staff.
“Every two years the AFNA region has the AFNA tournament and an AGM, and the last time we participated was in 2012,” said Danielle Raynor, the Bermuda Netball Association’s second vice-president. “This year they had a coaching seminar as well, so we decided we will still send two coaches to represent Bermuda.”
The coaching seminar will enable Bermuda’s representatives to enhance their netball knowledge, coaching techniques and skills.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for our two coaches, who will then share what they have learnt at the coaching seminar with their colleagues when they return,” Raynor added.
Part of the BNA’s mandate is to guide Bermuda into becoming a formidable force on the international stage, with the investment in coaching and umpiring deemed as essential to achieving that goal.
