Remote learning will be used at Clearwater Middle School in St David’s today after an air conditioning breakdown forced the building to be shut for repairs.
High temperatures was noticed by staff at the school last Thursday.
But Diallo Rabain, the education minister, said the long holiday weekend meant that technicians could not assess repairs required until yesterday.
Mr Rabain said teachers told the principal yesterday that some staff and students were “experiencing illness resulting from the heat”.
The rest of yesterday’s classes were held outdoors, and repair work will continue today.
Mr Rabain said the ministry would work with the Ministry of Public Works to have the repairs done “as quickly as possible”.
An update will be released today.
