Annuity & Life Re president and CEO Lawrence Doyle yesterday announced his retirement from the company.

Mr. Doyle has resigned as president, CEO and a director of the company, but he has agreed to remain with the company on an interim basis to assist with certain projects.

An executive search firm has been engaged by the company to help promptly identify an appropriate replacement for Mr. Doyle.

The company said that until an appropriate replacement was identified, a Transition Committee of the Board of Directors would oversee the management and operations of the company.

Transition Committee members include Frederick S. Hammer and Robert M. Lichten. Mr. Hammer has served as non-executive chairman of the Board and a director of the company since its formation in 1997, and is also co-chairman of Guggenheim Securities, LLC, formerly known as Inter-Atlantic Securities Corp., LLC, and of Inter-Atlantic Capital Partners, Inc.
