Princess Street stabbing victim named

Murder victim: Henry Santucci

A 60-year-old man stabbed to death on Saturday night has been identified by police.

Henry Santucci was found facedown and unconscious on Princess Street, near the junction with Angle Street, at about 8pm.

Police and paramedics worked on Mr Santucci at the scene and he was rushed to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for emergency surgery, but succumbed to his injuries.

A spokesman for the Bermuda Police Service said: “The BPS extends its sincerest condolences to the family of Mr Santucci during this difficult time.”

David Burt, the Premier, extended condolences to the family of Mr Santucci, who was known as “Chick” or “Scar”, at a press conference on Monday.

Wayne Caines, the Minister of National Security, said that the community was “deeply saddened” by the fatal stabbing.

Mr Caines, noting the coronavirus pandemic, added: “As a community, we are already under immense strain, and violent acts like this only add to the heartache and anxiety in our community.”

One man was arrested in connection with the incident.
