Military ship refuels
A military auxiliary ship en route from Mississippi to Plymouth stopped in earlier this week for refuelling.
The (Royal Maritime Auxiliary Ship) RMAS Newton, which arrived on Monday and was moored at the Commercial Dock, in Dockyard, is 3,140 gross tonnes and 324 feet long.
She left for the United Kingdom yesterday at 2 p.m.
Another visitor was the UBC Salvador, which arrived on Monday, to unload 21,000 tonnes of gravel. But instead of leaving right away, the UBC Salvador is staying on for a few days for scheduled maintenance.
A Harbour Radio spokesman said the maintenance was expected to take three days to complete.
Meyer Shipping spokesmen Joe Simas said the oil tanker, the Iver Expert, arrived on Friday at 9 a.m. and left Saturday morning at 7.20.
Mr. Simas said the MV Somers Isles arrived on Saturday and she bought 145 containers, which included seven reefers.
However, the Bermuda Islander was running late because of bad weather.
"The Bermuda Islander will arrive on Saturday and will leave on Sunday morning," said Mr. Simas.
She is bringing 135 containers, which include 27 reefers.
Bermuda Container Line said the Oleander arrived from Port Elizabeth, New Jersey, on Monday, carrying two school houses, 13 cars, two food trucks, one pick up truck, two boom trucks, one light trailer, one boat on a trailer, one convoy bus, two mafis and one flatbed.
The Oleander also carried 163 dry containers and 45 refrigerated containers.
She left Bermuda yesterday at 2 p.m.
