An aeroplane called into the Island for refuelling yesterday — sparking activity from the fire service at Bermuda International Airport. The plane, a Lufthansa airbus believed to be heading from Germany for the US, arrived at the airport shortly before 4 p.m.
On its arrival, the airport's fire service put three hose trucks about 300 feet from the plane, while a smaller fire truck surveyed the vehicle.
Airport staff said the plane was refuelling on its way to America and that the fire service was taking the chance to run through its emergency plans.
