Hamilton Princess backs blood donor drive
The island’s blood donation service got a boost from the Hamilton Princess and Beach Club in advance of World Blood Donor Day next Monday.
The hotel donated raffle prizes of a weekend stay for the most active donors and a champagne brunch for newer ones to encourage more people to come forward.
The Princess also sponsored an online advertisement for blood donation.
The blood donation centre at the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital will place a list of its top donors into the raffle for the hotel stay.
New donors who gave blood in the past year will be eligible for the raffle for the champagne brunch.
The winners will be announced on June 18.
The Bermuda Hospitals Board and Bermuda Blood Donor Centre thanked the hotel for its help.
Eyitayo Fakunle, the BHB’s consultant haematologist, said the Hamilton Princess regularly took part in the corporate blood donor competition and encouraged its staff to give blood.
He added: “It is wonderful that we can thank our most active regular donors and celebrate the new donors this year. They are all helping save lives.”
Tim Morrison, the general manager of the Hamilton Princess, said no one knew when they might need a life-saving blood donation.
He added: “It’s incredibly important for the public to be generous – you never know whose life you might save.”
