The Carlyle Group
It is one of the world's largest private equity firms, with more than $81.1 billion under management. Carlyle has 60 funds largely focused on investing in buyouts, venture & growth capital, real estate and leveraged finance, according to the Washington Business Journal. It employees 575 investment professionals in 21 countries.
Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce
CIBC, as it is commonly known, is a leading North American financial institution with almost 11 million personal banking and business clients. In the first quarter this year it reported a net income of C$652 million, up from C$147 million in 2009. Total assets as of January 31, 2010 were C$337.24 billion, compared to C$353.81 billion as of January 31, 2009.
Wellcome Trust
The Wellcome Trust is an independent charity funding research to improve human and animal health. Established in 1936 and with an endowment of around £15 billion, it is the UK's largest non-governmental source of funds for biomedical research investment. The Trust's £13 billion investment portfolio provides the income for it's funding. An investment team manages the portfolio that aims to generate a six percent real return over the long term.
Bermuda Government Pension Funds
This includes the Contributory Pension Fund (CPF) and the Public Service Superannuation Fund (PSSF). In 2008 the CPF was valued at $975 million, down from $1.32 billion in 2007, while the PSSF was valued at $325.5 million, down from $434.3 million in 2007.
Julian Robertson
Mr. Robertson is a billionaire and former founder and manager of Tiger Management hedge fund. 2009 Forbes Magazine said he had an estimated fortune of $1.3 billion and ranked 559 on their World Billionare list. The Magazine added: "Since 2000 has lorded over the ultimate fund of funds: invested in 30 hedge funds, many run by Tiger Management proteges. Last year his "Tiger Cubs" are believed to have lost an average of 25 percent net of fees after returning roughly 50 percent in 2007."
Goshen Investments, LLC.
The hedge fund is one of the "Tiger Clubs" seeded by Mr. Robertson. Financial statements on how much the company oversees were not readily available yesterday.
