accident near Somerset Bridge yesterday.

Police said the accident occurred shortly after 8 a.m. when a scooter ridden by a 20-year-old Somerset woman was in collision with a truck travelling in the same direction.

It is believed the scooter was in the process of overtaking on Somerset Road and pulled in to avoid a blue car travelling in the opposite direction.

As a result of the accident the rider was thrown into the road and suffered cuts and abrasions, while the 13-year-old passenger suffered internal injuries.

A hospital spokeswoman last night said the teenager was in the Intensive Care Unit of the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.
