Arrest in robbery of 71-year-old
tried to rob a 71-year-old man.
The victim told Police he was walking along Bulkhead Drive in Warwick when the young man approached him and started talking to him, said Police spokesman P.c. Gary Venning.
The young man then grabbed his wallet from his shirt pocket, but could not get away before the victim grabbed him by the arm and snatched his wallet back.
The would-be robber then ran away but was arrested shortly afterward by the Police who were continuing their enquiries into the incident yesterday.
In other Police news, officers attended a three-vehicle accident on Canal Road in Pembroke on Monday night.
At about 6.30 p.m. a Piaggio motor scooter had collided with the rear of a Mitsubishi Lancer before rebounding into a parked Suzuki car.
The scooter rider sustained cuts and abrasions and all the vehicles were slightly damaged.
And the Police are appealing for witnesses to the stabbing of a 41-year-old Pembroke man during the early hours of last Friday, said P.c. Venning.
The man was found lying in the road with severe abdominal injuries at the junction of Bishop Spencer Road and the Glebe Road at around 9 a.m..
P.c. Venning said Police believe the incident occurred in the area of "42nd Street'' at about 4 a.m.
A 37-year-old Pembroke man has been arrested but investigators would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident.
