Customs officers lauded for hosting major conference

Ardis and his staff for the excellent job they did in hosting the 17th Caribbean Customs Law Enforcement Conference.

Finance Minister the Hon. David Saul , under whose portfolio the Customs service rests, said the recently concluded conference was first class.

Mr. Stanley Morton asked that congratulations be sent to Mrs. Genevieve Hollis on her 80th birthday.

Mr. Morton said Mrs. Hollis is active in the community and works with several organisations including Summerhaven.

Transport Minister the Hon. Maxwell Burgess sent congratulations to Mr. Ben Simmons who was promoted to assistant director of the Public Transportation Board.

Meanwhile, Mr. Nelson Bascome asked that condolences be sent to the late Mr.

Kenneth Bascome's family.

Mr. Bascome said Mr. Bascome was a quiet member of the community and an avid soccer fan.

He also asked that congratulations be sent to the World Aids Day committee and the writers and editors of Spice magazine.

Health Minister the Hon. Quinton Edness congratulated the Equefest committee, particularly Mrs. Ann Dunstan, who teaches horse riding to people with disabilities.

Works and Engineering Minister the Hon. Leonard Gibbons sent congratulations to the Young Enterprise Trade Fair Committee which staged its first ever fair yesterday.

Mr. Ottiwell Simmons asked that condolences be sent to the family of Mr. Sam Seymour, who died recently. He said Mr. Seymour was a reliable employee and dock worker.

Mrs. Grace Bell sent congratulations to Mr. Colin Adderley on his retirement from the Bank of Butterfield after 41 years.

Mr. Leon (Jimmy) Williams sent congratulations to Mrs. Joy Wilson Tucker who will display Bermudian crafts through the United Crafters Association of Bermuda, an organisation she founded.

Mr. David Dodwell sent congratulations to Mrs. Dianna Kempe who has been selected as secretary general of the International Bar Association.

Mr. Alex Scott sent congratulations to the successful recruits who passed out of the Bermuda Police's Basic training course.

Dr. Ewart Brown asked that congratulations be sent to Mrs. Sheila Manderson who became the executive director at the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

He also sent encouragement and support to Bermuda's Under-23 football squad who are in Jamaica attempting to qualify for the Pan American Games.
