Breaking News: China TIEA a 'step forward in political ties' - Premier

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 2: Premier Paula Cox today signed a tax information exchange agreement with China in a ceremony at Camden.
After she and Wang Li, the deputy commissioner of China’s State Administration of Taxation, had inked the documents, Ms Cox told an audience of dignitaries that the agreement was “a significant step forward in cementing political and economic ties” between the two countries.
Ms Cox was asked by a reporter whether the subject of four Uighur former Guantanamo detainees now living on the Island had come up in negotiations for the agreement.
“The negotiations and discussions that led up to the agreement did not touch on or reflect at all the issue of the Uighurs,” Premier Cox said.
