Work is underway to improve the drainage and the stairway at the entrance to Elbow Beach.A spokesman for the Ministry of Public Works said a team has been at the site this week as part of the effort to improve the drainage from Tribe Road 4B to the beach. Repairs are expected to be completed in four weeks.“This work will help reduce incidences of sand that is adjacent to the public access being washed away, especially during heavy rain down pours,” he said.“At the same time the Ministry is also carrying out some improvements to the steps.”The stairs leading to the beach were damaged during Hurricane Igor in 2010.Temporary steps were put in place, and damaged by winter weather. A wooden staircase was erected at the site in 2011 as a temporary solution until more work could be done.
