BMA warns of fraudulent cheques

The Bermuda Monetary Authority has warned that fraudulent cheques have been created in the United States which falsely appear to have been issued from a US bank account operated by the BMA.

In a statement, the BMA said: “The Authority wishes to advise the public that it does not operate any chequing accounts within the United States.

“Any cheques found that appear to be issued by the Authority and drawn on a US bank, should be reported to local police along with a copy of this warning notice.”
