Wow! Santa wish letter is answered as residents of Home get cable supply
Do Christmas wishes published in The Royal Gazette's open Letter to Santa come true? Letia Outerbridge, supervisor of the Brangman Home, learned that some do — thanks to a generous reader who has literally put the WOW in Christmas for the young ladies in her charge.
Working his way through the long list of needs by local charities and special homes, the eyes of president and CEO of World on Wireless (WOW), Stanley G. Wright, lit up when he saw that the care facility for young women wished for a subscription to cable television, and did not hesitate.
As one of Santa's Bermuda helpers with a direct connection to the North Pole, Mr. Wright got the signal from the jolly gent himself to call Miss Outerbridge and make her day: WOW would be donating a year's worth of free cable service.
"We are pleased to be able to respond and enhance the TV viewing choices for the residents at the Brangman Home," he says. "It is always nice to be able to grant someone's wish."
Indeed it is, and Miss Outerbridge and the young residents are simply delighted with the good news.
"We appreciate WOW's kindness and thoughtfulness," she says. "Brangman Home is a residential facility which cares for female adolescents who are experiencing difficulty within the family unit.
"Our aim is to assist children and families in building healthy relationships with one another. The use of sister agencies and community resources greatly assists us in reaching this goal.
"We recognise and appreciate that there are many individuals with big hearts and a genuine desire to help, particularly during this holiday season."
With over 100 channels to enjoy, the early Christmas gift from Bermuda's only cable-free television service will be one that goes on giving to the residents and staff of the Brangman Home for 365 days.
