In the first ruling of 2014, charges against the son of Health Minister Trevor Moniz were dismissed this morning for allegedly possessing 2.1g of cannabis and drug paraphernalia.
The crown offered no evidence against 19-year-old Thomas Moniz, of Pigeon Berry Lane, Smith’s, who appeared in Magistrates’ Court this morning alongside his lawyer, Saul Froomkin, for mention.
With no evidence offered against Mr Moniz, Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner dismissed the charges.
Earlier this week Mr Moniz denied having the 2.1 grams of cannabis and a blue ‘grinder’ in his possession on September 2 in Devonshire parish.
He elected to be tried in Magistrates’ Court, while Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo released him on $2,000 bail with one surety.
