Uzimon reaches cash goal ahead of festivals
An online fundraising effort to send Bermudian performer Uzimon to a series of UK music festivals reached its goal on the campaign’s final day.
However, a campaign by another Bermudian musician, James Richardson, still has a way to go in order to reach its loftier $32,000 goal.
Uzimon, also known as Daniel Frith, launched his Kickstarter campaign last month, aiming to raise $8,000 to fund a European Tour with stops at festivals including this year’s Boomtown Fair, Bestival and the Secret Garden Party.
While the campaign suffered a slow start, it managed to meet its goal with less than 24 hours to spare, with 100 donors stepping forward and donating a total of $8,075.
Mr Richardson’s Indiegogo campaign, meanwhile, has raised a little more than one tenth of its $32,000 goal with the support of 18 donors as of yesterday afternoon. The campaign is set to end on July 9.
The campaign was launched earlier this month with the aim of raising money to move the pianist and his studio to London, to fund the creation of two new albums and create a new website dedicated to helping Bermudian musicians establish themselves in the UK.
Those who donate to the campaign can receive CDs, music lessons, executive producer credit on the upcoming albums or even an original composition.
