Bermuda will take on Uganda, Nepal, the United States and two teams from the World Cricket League Division Four when the ICC World Cricket League Division Three Tournament is staged in Uganda from October 26 to November 2.

Six teams will compete in the event as Uganda host their first ICC WCL tournament, with the top two earning promotion to Division Two, which will be held in 2015.

“It’s going to be a tough task and we need to start preparing now,” said Arnold Manders, the Bermuda coach. “We’re in the middle of sorting that out now, we’ll be meeting with a squad.”

Bermuda hosted the WCL Division Three Tournament in April last year when Uganda and Nepal finished first and second to advance to this year’s World Cup qualifying tournament.

Bermuda missed out on qualifying for that tournament on net run-rate as Nepal clinched second spot.

Victory for Bermuda, however, enabled them to avoid relegation to Division Four, which would have been their fate as Oman defeated the previously unbeaten Uganda in their final match at Somerset Cricket Club.

Chris Douglas was the hero for Bermuda that day as the hosts chased down the United States’ total of 220 with 221 for five, the dashing left-handed batsman smashing 89 off 75 balls in the Island’s final round robin match.

Bermuda lost to Uganda by 114 runs and Nepal by eight wickets during the tournament.
