An extension to the Public Health Emergency Act is expected to be discussed today in the House of Assembly.

The earlier announced extension - which will allow the emergency to be extended for 60 days - is scheduled to be tabled and debated.

The Public Health Emergency was scheduled to end on June 24.

MPs are also expected to discuss the National Pension Scheme (Occupational Pensions) Amendment Act 2021 and the Economic Substance Amendment Act 2021, tabled earlier by Curtis Dickinson, the Minister of Finance.

Lieutenant-Colonel David Burch, the Minister of Public Works, is expected to make a statement on the proposed demolition of Wantley, a historic home on Princess Street, Hamilton.

A campaign was launched to preserve the building, owned by the Bermuda Housing Corporation and the venue for a meeting in 1879 that led to the creation of the Berkeley Institute, after it was revealed it was under threat of demolition.

The building has been allowed to deteriorate over the years and suffered damage from fires.

The BHC said last week that the decision to demolish and rebuild the house was the least expensive option.

Jason Hayward, the Minister of Labour, is expected to speak on re-employment strategies and immigration reform.

Diallo Rabain, the Minister of Education, will make statements on the summer school programme and a virtual open house at the University of the West Indies.

Renee Ming, the Minister of National Security, will give an update on gang violence reduction efforts and David Burt, the Premier, will make a statement about how the island will move beyond the pandemic.

Amendments to the Education Act and the Debt Collection Act are also expected to be tabled, along with the audited financial statements of the Regulatory Authority and the 2020 annual report of the Registrar-General.
