Bermuda-based insurer Catlin Group Ltd. yesterday announced the addition of casualty facultative reinsurance to its portfolio of products underwritten by Catlin US.

Scott Beall, director of casualty facultative reinsurance, will direct the design, development and implementation of the casualty facultative unit, which is expected to begin underwriting operations during the second quarter of 2009. The operation will be based in Catlin US's Atlanta headquarters.

Scott Beall recently joined Catlin after six years with Markel Corporation. Scott has 27 years of insurance industry experience, including 23 specialising in facultative reinsurance.

Joe Horan, chief underwriter officer of reinsurance at Catlin US, said: "We are pleased to add Scott to the Catlin US reinsurance team and value the experience he brings. Scott is well known in the marketplace and will establish Catlin as a solid reinsurance partner for years to come".

Catlin's casualty facultative product will be exclusively distributed through the reinsurance intermediary market.
