Max hires pair from Ace for new London casualty reinsurance team
Max Capital Group Ltd. has hired two senior underwriters from Ace Tempest Re to form its new international casualty reinsurance team at its Lloyd's operating unit.
Graeme Scott and Stuart Hawes will join Max at Lloyd's Ltd. when their current employments obligations are fulfilled - expected to be in the third quarter of this year.
Marston (Marty) Becker, Max's chairman and chief executive officer, said: "The addition of an International Casualty reinsurance team at Max at Lloyd's represents a further important step in building the specialty underwriting capabilities of our Lloyd's platform and in diversifying the operations of Max."
Max at Lloyd's Ltd. is the Lloyd's managing agent for Syndicates 1400, 2525 and 2526.
Mr. Scott has been appointed casualty treaty underwriting manager for Lloyd's Syndicate 1400, and will be responsible for writing a portfolio of international casualty treaty business from the syndicate's box at Lloyd's, to complement the existing books of property and personal accident treaty business already written by the syndicate.
He has more than 30 years of experience in casualty underwriting, most recently as senior international casualty treaty underwriter for Ace Tempest Re in London, where he wrote a profitable non-motor account.
Previously, he was underwriting manager (facultative casualty) with Munich Re UK. Mr. Scott holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from The Open University and is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII).
Graeme will be supported by Stuart Hawes, who has been appointed treaty Underwriter for Lloyd's Syndicate 1400. Stuart has 14 years of insurance experience, including nine years in casualty reinsurance underwriting, most recently also with Ace Tempest Re. In 1995, Stuart graduated from Nottingham University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Urban Planning and Management. He is also an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII).
