BeachFest returning to its Horseshoe Bay home

Beach celebration: Some of the team from Chewstick, who put on the Emancipation Day Beach Fest at Horseshoe Bay on the first day of Cup Match.

If you missed Beachfest being at Horseshoe Bay last Cup Match, you’ll be happy to hear it will be back at its original spot this summer.

The Chewstick Foundation had to hold its annual Beachfest Emancipation Celebration at Snorkel Park last year after it was unable to secure the proper permits and funding. Although the event boasted special drink prices, an affordable food menu, scores of local entertainment and two international DJs, it failed to attract its normal numbers.

This summer organisers are bringing the event back to its Horseshoe Bay home, thanks to support from the Department of Parks.

A spokesman from the Foundation said: “Horseshoe Bay Beach will be transformed on Thursday, July 31st 2014 for the iconic community celebration that brings people together from a variety of backgrounds and from all over the world.

“The day will also feature a performance by a major international headliner, but at this time we are remaining tight-lipped on who it could be and rumours are swirling.

“Beachfest 2014 promises to be the greatest Beachfest ever and definitely an event you do not want to miss.”

It is the primary annual fundraiser for Chewstick and helps fund its work in the community year round.

The Chewstick Foundation plans to release updates on the event in the coming weeks, such as the details on activities, performers and more.
