Cabrera is first to grab spot at slam

Argentina's Angel Cabrera, no stranger to high-pressure golf nor Bermuda, earned the first spot of the year in what is arguably the most difficult tournament in the world to qualify for, the PGA Grand Slam of Golf, which is scheduled to move to Port Royal Golf Club from October 20-21.

Cabrera, who defeated Ireland's Padraig Harrington in a play-off to win the 2007 Grand Slam, battled his way back with a thrilling sudden-death play-off victory at The Masters on Sunday, defeating 48-year-old Tour veteran Kenny Perry on the second hole of sudden death after Chad Campbell had been eliminated on the first.

It marked his second major, after having won the 2007 US Open.

Invited to join Cabrera in Bermuda will be the winners of the US Open (June 18-21) at Bethpage State Park's Black Course in Farmingdale, New York; the British Open (July 16-19) at Turnberry, Ayrshire in Scotland; and the 91st PGA Championship (August 13-16) at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minnesota.

Should a player win more than one major Championship this season, the foursome will be completed through the Major Champions Points List composed of past major Champions who compete in this year's majors.

Past PGA Grand Slam champions include defending champion Jim Furyk, Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Ernie Els, Tom Lehman, Ben Crenshaw, Greg Norman, Nick Price and Ian Woosnam.

This year's tournament will be aired on TNT TV, where it will be broadcast in prime time to more than 89 million US homes and to international audience of more than 100 countries
