A burglar broke in to a woman’s South Road home early this morning armed with a blade, according to police.

A police spokesman said: “At around 2.15am police officers responded to a reported armed burglary at a South Road, Hamilton Parish residence where an unknown male, apparently brandishing a bladed article, gained entry into the home.

“The female occupant was not injured and the intruder fled the scene with personal items.

“The offender is described as 5ft 5in of slim build wearing dark coloured clothing and a motorcycle helmet.”

Police are making inquiries into the incident and have urged anyone who may have seen suspicious people or activity around the area early this morning to contact the St. George’s Criminal Investigation Unit on 293-2222.
