Hall of Fame induction a great honour
It was with great honour that I was inducted into the Sandys 360 Hall of Fame last weekend and I would like to thank those who help made this possible.I have been out and about, giving back to the community as it has given me everything that I have now. And I’ve been going to the schools to speak and give the children something to hope and look forward to.–Since the CNN show in which I was featured, I have been swamped with calls and requests to come out and help in various capacities and I am thrilled to be involved.I have always been thankful to the players who were before me and the coaches who helped me along the way. They paved the way for my success. It is a great feeling to give this generation what was given to me.* * * *Looking at how the Champions League went this week, I thought it was a good result for AC Milan at the San Siro given they had two players in their team who are roughly 36 years-old in Clarence Seedorf and Alessandro Nesta. It puzzled me that Barcelona allowed them off the hook because if you are 21 or so there is no way a much older player should be close to matching you.If you look at how Barcelona knocked the ball around, Milan’s midfield simply shifted across and held their ground and it was an opportunity wasted on their part. With the tie poised nicely, it will be interesting to see how the Catalan side come out because AC will have a few players back from injury and suspension who will make hard for them.Nine times out of ten Milan will come with the same formation and strategy and with Barca it’s only a matter of time before they break you down. But if Milan do go to the Camp Nou and get a result you can only tip your hat to them.Chelsea got a good result in Portugal against Benfica with their 1-0 win and you have to back them to push on in the competition. There’s only one team that is pretty much through and that’s Real Madrid after their 3-0 away win against APOEL.Marseilles have their work cut out for them after a 2-0 loss to Bayern Munich but they do have what it takes to overturn the deficit, particularly if they score early.* * * *Manchester United got the luck of champions on Monday with the Fulham penalty that was never given in injury time. The referee is human and everyone makes mistakes and in this case technology wouldn’t have been an issue. It was a clear foul.No doubt United were let off the hook, although who’s to say Fulham would have scored the spot kick.Manchester City slipped up again and they need to be careful if they aren’t to fall off the pace..Chelsea versus Tottenham ended in a stalemate and it seemed as if neither one wanted to lose but for Spurs it may have been the result they needed in order to get some confidence back. They went five games without a win before this draw and then advanced in the FA Cup against Bolton, so thet could becoming back to form. It’s is imperative that they come out with the same hunger that they had when they were title contenders.
