Learning about what a Custom Officer does

Students from Kingdom Academy at Customs Open Day

Young Observer visited Kingdom Academy on Tuesday to meet with students who had been inspired by an article in The Royal Gazette on January 20th to attend the Customs Open Day.

Kingdom Academy is a small home school located at PCC on North Shore. It opened in September 2013.

Kingdom Academy is committed to developing life long learners and leaders, capable of meeting the global challenges of the 21st century.

Ms Chaunte Whitter together with the following students — David Smith, Savannah Lewis, Naji Grant, Starr Wilson and Tyree Phillips — attended the Customs Open Day.

“On Tuesday 21st January at Pier 6 I went to Customs Open House,” Starr Wilson said.

“The Open House was a display of all of the different roles in Bermuda Customs. There were tables filled with many intriguing demonstrations.

“I really enjoyed talking to the Officers and learning about the pros and cons about their jobs and also about the stuff that goes on while their working.

“Many of the officers seemed like they had a passion for what they do.”
