New housing takes shape

The prefabs housing at Victoria Row in Dockyard are near completion.
It’s coming to the final stretch for the 20 units of prefabricated housing at the west end — and the buildings even look Bermudian.
Built for just under $25 million, the housing project by the West End Development Corporation has transformed the property around the ageing Victoria and Albert Row houses.
The old housing will not be demolished, as had originally been proposed — but no schedule has been set for the major job of restoring them.
The project ties in with major works by Wedco to the sewerage and water lines running from Dockyard through Boaz Island.
