New-look KFC set to reopen after Christmas
A new-look KFC is set to open its doors just after Christmas.
And the Queen Street restaurant, which has been closed for renovations since early last month, will reopen with new decor and hi-tech electronic displays.
KFC chief Jason Benevides said: “The biggest thing customers are going to see is a completely redecorated restaurant seating area with all-new finishes and furnishings and digital menu boards as part of the new front counter.”
The restaurant closed on November 12 for a major revamp, in line with the terms of the KFC franchise, which required an update to bring it into line with the firm's corporate image.
It has been nearly a decade since the restaurant last had major renovations.
Mr Benevides said the new-look restaurant would feature new energy-efficient lighting, wood-look panelling and new ceilings — but will retain the franchise's distinctive red colourways.
He added: “There will be more modern technology back of house, which the customers won't necessarily see, but will provide a better experience.”
New features will include electronic gift vouchers in place of paper ones, as well as a new loyalty card system.
Mr Benevides said it had been hoped to reopen before Christmas, but work had taken longer than expected.
He added: “We are quite far along — the furnishings are being installed now and we have some final work to to back of house and we expect to be open between Christmas and New Year.”
Mr Benevides said: “I know our customers are anxious for us to reopen — they pass by and stick their heads in the door and ask the construction crew when we'll reopen.”
