Wow, so many decorations seem to have sprung up suddenly over the past week! Spare a thought for those in other parts of the world who have to put up with Yuletide music and decorations from September/October and are already Christmassed-out by November. I am vehemently against Santa hats before Halloween is over but am happy for all the mulled wine, eggnog and mince pies to start appearing now. Other than fairylights, here's what else is going on in Bermuda:l As part of a worldwide event of storytelling, the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs presents ‘Tellabration: An Evening of Bermuda Storytelling’ on Friday. This event is for over-14s/adults and will be from 7pm in the Bermuda Room, Elbow Beach Hotel. Tickets are $5. The City Market at Washington Street will restart on Saturday. Rain venue is Bull’s Head car park. The event will be held from 8am until noon every Saturday until June and features local vendors selling items grown or made by them, such as fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs, flowers, baked goods, preserves and crafts. Definitely worth a wander!l Another opportunity to purchase unique items crafted by local artists, the Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art presents the Fifth Annual One Stop Shopping event on Saturday November 17. From 10am until 4pm, you can browse a selection of ceramics, jewellery, cake balls, artwork, handbags, cedar crafts and children’s ware items. This event is a ten-category car, truck, bike and SUV show that features live local entertainment, moto duke-outs and a kids’ fun park, including TORC’s Electric Ride-on Supercars. Admission fee is $5 for kids aged 12 and under, $10 for adults and the vehicle participation fee is $20 for two wheels or $30 for four wheels. Robin Hood Netball Team are giving you the chance to prove it at their I Love the 90s pub quiz at Robin Hood on Wednesday, November 21 at 8pm. There is no need to book your team spot in advance, just show up early enough to grab a table.l The Sixth Annual Bacardi 8K Road Race and Walk will take place on Sunday, November 25. The race begins at the Bacardi World Headquarters building, turns onto Pitts Bay Road towards Spanish Point, and ends at Bacardi. Walkers start at 8.30am, runners start at 9am. There will be draw prizes and breakfast will be on offer. Prizes will also be given to the top male and female finishers in several categories.
