Promising netballer Asante Chapman has been named on a shortlist of nominees for a prestigious UK award.

The Bermudian is among three players who have been nominated for the Surrey Sports Park Young Sports Personality of the Year Award.

The 2013 Surrey Sports Awards ceremony will be held on December 5 at the majestic Kempton Park Racecourse in Surrey, England.

The annual event, organised by Active Surrey and hosted by BBC Surrey presenter Tim Durrans, brings together “athletes, clubs, coaches, businesses and the wider professional partnership to reward outstanding achievements, exceptional determination and extraordinary commitment to sport.”

Special guest speakers at the awards ceremony will be Olympic bronze medallist Liam Heath (kayaking) and Paralympic wheelchair basketballer Helen Turner.

Earlier this year Chapman represented Bermuda at the World Youth Netball Championships in Glasgow, Scotland.
