5K hoping for 1,000 entries
Close to 900 runners had entered by this morning the all-women PartnerRe 5K Run/Walk, with 1,000 athletes the target come race day.Late registration closes at 11am tomorrow.Sunday’s popular event starts and finishes at the Botanical Gardens.“We are close to 900 now so are a hoping to break the 1000 barrier again this year,” said organiser Rose-Anna Hoey.“Late registration is available until 11am in the Jack King Building in Botanical Gardens. There will be no registration on race day.The children’s race starts at 8.30am, while the adults begins at 9am.“The weather looks promising and we are hoping for a fun event for all of our ladies . . . we are hoping everyone comes out and supports this charity event with the proceeds going to the Coalition for the Protection of Children.“Tamika Williams has signed up for the event so we are expecting to see a good race between her, Ashley Estwanik, Victoria Fiddick and Deon Breary. Tamika has performed very well at the cross country events of late.”
