Tourists donate to Coalition for the Protection of Children
A pair of teenagers on the Grandeur of the Seas surprised the Coalition for the Protection of Children with a donation of school supplies yesterday.A spokeswoman for the charity said two 16-year-old passengers from Virginia, Sarah Bowers and Hollie Ridgeway, decided to organise a charity drive for the group to support the community while on holiday.“Through the website Cruise Critic the two girls, with the help of their mothers, reached out to other passengers scheduled to travel on their same cruise to Bermuda, and encourage other visitors to donated much-needed school supplies,” the spokeswoman said.In total, around 50 of the passengers agreed to take part, donating six school bags, each filled with school supplies.“The Coalition was greatly appreciative of the donation, as it is currently in the midst of its Back to School drive, equipping parents with the basic school necessities,” the spokeswoman said. “And it is especially great to see young people giving back.”
