Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of Bermuda has been named Most Charitable Charity in the 2013 Best of Bermuda Awards .BBBS is a mentoring programme aimed at helping youth realise their potential by facilitating the development of long-term one-to-one relationships with an adult mentor.The programme operates by a mentor, or “Big”, being matched with a youth, or “Little”, by interests and abilities of the child. The mentor becomes as a positive role model and friend to the youth while spending a minimum of three hours a week for at least one year. The aim of the programme is to help build personal values such as self-esteem, self-respect and respect toward others.A more in-depth story will follow in Tuesday’s edition of The Royal Gazette.
