The P6 students at Victor Scott Primary have participated in the YouthNet reading programme from P1 through P6. They are the first class of students who have been with YouthNet all their primary school life and they are now graduating to middle school.YouthNet is a school-based mentoring programme, as well as a registered charity. Relationship development takes place either in school or in a supervised environment. The goal is to provide students access to a mentoring relationship throughout their school life, enhancing each stage of their journey by connecting them to one or more volunteer mentors with whom they can build and sustain meaningful relationships. The reading programme matches individuals and teams of adults and students (volunteers) with primary schoolchildren to build positive relationships and strengthen their literacy skills. It utilises mentors’ experience, knowledge and understanding to provide additional support to students in school and strengthen ties between generations.
