Halloween treat in store for Pickled Onion partygoers

I'm glad you all seem to like the new-look website. It's much easier to find everything and there'll be a few more little improvements coming up. After Halloween, the next big event on the Bermuda calendar is, of course, World Rugby Classic Week, which is now in its 25th year! I have included a little WRC special on the website so you might want to check that out! Here’s what else is coming up:l Pickled Onion are continuing the Halloween celebrations until the weekend with a Halloween party on Saturday night. There is no cover charge and they promise great decor, drinks specials and music by Graffiti Park from 10pm until 2am.l After two sold-out screenings, Bermuda Docs are giving you one more chance to see ‘The Queen of Versailles’, tonight at 6pm at BUEI. Tickets are $15 and available from Oceans Gift Shop or by calling 297-7314.l Sure to delight Hispanophones and Hispanophiles alike, the annual Latin American Cultural Expo for 2012 takes place Sunday. Members of the community who come from that region will be given the opportunity to represent their culture/heritage and country at Somersfield Academy from noon until 6pm. Tickets are $5 and available from www.bdatix.com.l To help young Bermudian Delijah Symonds take her place in the 2013 cast of Up with People, Bermuda's best entertainers have come together for the fundraising concert, ‘Music: The Universal Language’ on Thursday, November 8 at Fairmont Southampton's Mid-Ocean Amphitheatre. A reception starts at 6.30pm and the show at 7.30pm. Hosted by Ninja Cutty with Olivia Hamilton, Shine Hayward and Stevie Darrell among the featured artists. Tickets are $30 and available from All Wrapped Up, Fabulous Fashions or www.bdatix.com.l St Peter's Church in St George's is currently celebrating its 400th anniversary with several associated events. First up is a gala banquet at Rosewood Tucker's Point from 7pm on Friday, November 16. The speaker for the evening will be the Right Reverend and Right Honourable Dr Richard Chartres. Dress code is evening dress with medals and the cost is $200 per person. On Saturday, November 17, Grace Rawlins will host coffee with Mrs Caroline Chartres at 9.30am in the Somers Lounge at the St George's Club. The cost is $15 per person. Lastly, a special 400th anniversary Communion Service will be celebrated at 11am on Sunday, November 18, followed by a reception in King's Square. Bajan Men Can Cook will serve up food and desserts from 5.30pm at Hamilton Cathedral on Saturday, November 24. Tickets are $20. The following day, a special church service will take place at St Mary’s Anglican Church at 10.30 am. On Friday, November 30 at 7pm, there will be an Independence Day cultural night at Police Recreational Club. Tickets are $10. Finally, there will be an Independence dinner at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess on Saturday, December 1, from 6.30pm. Guest speaker will be Adriel Brathwaite, Attorney General and Minister of Home Affairs in Barbados. There will also be a special performance by Red Plastic Bag. General admission is $120; $175 for patrons, and includes free entry to the Cultural Night. Tickets are available from Secrets.
