Why waste time sleeping when there's so much to do?

Hi folksI am completely amazed at the number of people going for lunchtime runs in this heat — how do you do it without collapsing?! Do you stop for ice-cream along the way? Anyway, enough of my random thoughts — here are the latest Bermuda events and activities to keep you all out of trouble:* Are you a Bermudian college student/recent graduate interested in accountancy? If so, you won’t want to miss KPMG’s 2012K-Nect Student Networking Event at Lemon Tree Café on Thursday, July 26. From 5.30pm until 7.30pm, you’ll have the opportunity to find out more about their graduate programmes and career opportunities. If interested in attending, contact rsvp@kpmg.bm.* To promote family fun, knowledge of Devonshire, and to introduce you to your council members, the Devonshire Parish Council are hosting a free Scavenger Hunt on Friday, July 27. The fun starts at 6.30pm at Christ Church Devonshire and will finish at the same place, with prizes for the winning team. The Hunt will encompass the Devonshire Parish area only but you’ll need transportation and a team with four members. To register, contact devonshire_council@hotmail.com or collect a registration form from the Devonshire Post Office.* Looks like UberVida will be working overtime as they are offering a whole host of Cup Match parties this year. The first is the Wet T Water Balloon Fete on Wednesday, August 1, with the boat departing Front Street at 11.59pm, returning at 4am and featuring over 600 water balloons plus super soakers. Tickets are $30, including two drink tickets. No point in wasting time sleeping over Cup Match weekend so you might as well attend their Dusk til Dawn Rave on Friday, August 3. The UberVida will be anchored near Rockaway Ferry Dock from 10pm until dawn, with water taxis departing Rockaway every hour. Tickets will be $20 in advance from www.ptix.bm and the price at the gate will increase by $10 every hour, up to a maximum price of $50. UberVida are also offering a Cup Match day trip on Saturday, August 4th, with different options, depending on how active you want to be — Dive Snorkel Suntan will depart Front Street at 2pm, taking you out to North Rock and returning at 8pm. The price includes a full buffet and costs $85 for suntanners/kids and $105 for snorkelers/certified divers. Snorkelling gear, dive tanks, weights, and all other equipment are available for rent (must pre-order) and there will be a full cash bar. Don’t have a boat for the Non-Mariners Raft-up yet? UberVida will depart Front Street at 10am on Sunday, August 5, returning at 6pm, with a variety of music in between as different DJs and performers pass through. The cost is $150 (including an open bar and BBQ) and they are also offering a visitor pass for $50, which lasts for two hours (strictly enforced) and entitles the holder to the open bar and BBQ. All tickets are available from www.ptix.bm.* Another option for Cup Match Eve — Newstead are hosting a special Happy Hour event on Wednesday, August 1 from 5pm until 10pm, with the water shuttle running from town every half-hour. Dress code is smart casual, drink tickets are $6 (six for $30 if purchased aboard shuttle) and live music from Duty Free will start at 6pm.* Anyone miss watching movies under the stars at the Moonlight Movie Series? This will be back on Saturday, August 11 and the first movie will be Big Miracle, rated PG-13, which will be showing at Shelly Bay Field. This will also feature a variety of young entertainers during Camparama from 6pm, as well as food vendors and a KiddieLand with games, rides and activities. The movie will start at 9pm.* Another outdoor cinema option, this time from Riddell’s Bay Golf & Country Club. The Club’s Movie Night on the Green will be a screening of Transformers on Friday, August 31. If you enjoy their famous Good Friday event, this one will have a lot of the same features — including a BBQ Cookout, putting and croquet, a bouncy castle, five-a-side football, popcorn machine, cotton candy and snowballs. The cost is $35 for adults, $17.50 for children under 12 and free for under-fours — contact 238-1060 or foodandbeverage@riddellsbay.com for reservations.* For full events listings and flyers, please visit www.NothingtodoinBermuda.com — the above is abbreviated content from that site.
