Man denies Westgate smuggling charge

A 45-year-old man has denied smuggling tobacco, cell phones and red wine into Westgate.Alfred Thompson, from Sandys, pleaded not guilty to a single count of trespassing onto prison property.He was allegedly caught on January 31 with nine packages of tobacco, rolling papers, two mini-lighters, two cell phones, four door hinges and one bottle of red wine.Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner remanded Mr Thompson into custody until next Monday, when the matter is expected to return to court for trial.
