Women's Cup producing attractive football

There is some exciting and enterprising football being played around the world at the moment and it is nice to see the younger players getting recognised as well as the women who are also playing some good football.I managed to see a bit of the Sweden against USA women's World Cup game and what little bit I did see was very impressive. The Swedes are a very good team, strong and understand the game.Like most women in the competition, they play attractive football and as such you can sit down and enjoy the games on television.I watched the Brazil game and the girl that scored the opening goal, Cristiane, was incredible, bringing the ball down on her thigh, flicking it over the defender and hit it a one-time shot into the back of the net. It was sheer class. That was a classic that could contend for goal of the summer, and it shows the ability these ladies possess and how far their game has progressed. There are so many good teams, competition among those in the last eight should be interesting. The United States will have a hard time with Brazil because they'll have to cope with the best women's player in the world, Marta, and all that she brings to the table. The Brazilians play like their male counterparts. It's nice to see them knock the ball around and enjoy their footbal. For the US to beat them, they will need to be physical and quicker to the ball. If they try to play the ball around they won't have a chance.* * * *The Under-17 World Cup is reaching its climax with hosts Mexico still in the competition. They will play Germany while Brazil take on Uruguay. The Mexicans have home advantage in the remaining games and will have thousands of supporters rooting for them.It is special and influential when you play in your own stadiums. The opposition will find it difficult because Mexicans have a 12th man the crowd. If Mexico make it to the final, at the Azteca Stadium which holds 100,000 plus, there will be an amazing atmosphere.* * * *Looking at Copa America, Argentina and Brazil are not playing the way they want to, certainly not so far.Argentina were booed off the pitch in their match against Colombia while Brazil struggled against Venezuela.Brazil are preparing for the next World Cup and their coach has left out a lot of the stars in an attempt to find a nucleus of players who will be the backbone of the team come 2014.* * * *In England, in the transfer period, there is still speculation over the future of Arsenal players Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri. Both seem to want to leave, which in my opinion is outrageous.Gone are the days when players stayed with one club and tried to make that club better. These days they want to win at any cost.Would Fabregas want to go to Barcelona if they weren't winning? Did he want to go when they weren't winning and Real Madrid were the top dog in Spain? The answer is no.Nasri says that it is not about money but just last week he said he wanted the same wage as Fabregas. It is absurd. Players want to leave to the clubs that are making them who they are and only Arsene Wenger should be able to make transfer decisions. He has a good track record of knowing when to let players go, so if he wants to make any changes the ball is in his court. He knows talent when he sees it. He's made many youngsters into great footballers. He needs a few older players to show the youngsters the way.Sunderland are also in the thick of things, grabbing John O'Shea and Wes Brown, two experienced defenders who can get the job done.Brown has had a lot of injuries in his career but Sunderland have got a player who will be fully dedicated to the cause.
