Wright severs ties with BCB
Bermuda Cricket Board (BCB) president Lloyd Fray today confirmed that selection committee chairman Derek Wright has severed ties with the Board. It is understood that Wright did not seek re-election at the BCB’s AGM last week amid claims he was asked to resign or risk being “expelled” after a grievance was allegedly filed against him by BCB CEO Neil Speight.BCB president Fray declined to respond to numerous claims Wright made to this newspaper concerning disciplinary proceedings against him for speaking with the media and refusing to attend a meeting which resulted with CEO Speight filing a grievance against him for his conduct. In a brief statement, Fray told The Royal Gazette: “I will not divulge any particulars surrounding Mr Wright and his departure from the Bermuda Cricket Board. This is an internal matter. However, I will confirm that Derek Wright no longer serves on the Bermuda Cricket Board.”
