Q: What is VoIP (Voice Over IP)?A: VoIP is simply a means of providing a two-way voice service delivered using IP (internet Protocol) via an internet connection. You may recognise brand names such as Vonage that deliver their voice service using VoIP. Traditional voice as we know it uses analogue signalling to deliver voice signals from one location to another. VoIP converts these signals into digital data packets which in turn carries between the respective parties placing the call.VoIP’s popularity spiked when consumers discovered it was a lower cost alternative to traditional voice, however, the reliability of this technology is dependent on far more variables than traditional voice so don’t give up your landline just yet.
