Second chance to see sell-out documentary

Jackie Siegel and her children, in Orlando, Florida in the Sundance award winning documentary ‘The Queen of Versailles’, which depicts the fall of a billionaire couple after the economic crisis.

The Sundance award-winning film ‘The Queen of Versailles’ will screen at the BUEI for a second time tomorrow.The film screened before a “completely sold out” audience when it opened the Bermuda Documentary Film Festival last week, said festival director Duncan Hall.‘The Queen of Versailles’ is described as a “sharply observed and deliciously funny film” that portraits the fascinating and slightly lovable family, Jackie and David Siegel. It follows the couple as they embark on the construction of the second-largest and most expensive single-family house in the United States .However when the economic downturn hits they must adjust their elaborate plans for a 90,000 square foot home.Mr Hall said: “The film was one of five to completely sell out during Bermuda Docs. As it screened on Thursday, we were able to add the second screening quickly and, having announced it during the festival, tickets are nearly half-sold for the additional screening already.”Tickets, $15, are available at the Oceans Gift Shop at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute, or by calling 297-7314. The show starts at 6.30pm.
