Franklin title up for grabs
Sixty players will compete in four divisions when the RUBiS Divisional Handicap Squash Tournament gets underway next week.Micah Franklin, winner of the RUBiS title for the last three years, is now a professional based in Toronto and won’t be defending his title.As such, South African Anthony Fellowes has been seeded number one and could face second seed Stephen Smith in the A Division final.However, both players face stiff opposition with top Bermuda junior D’Vario Thompson looking to make an impression.Bermuda national ladies’ champion Laura Robinson and World Distributors tournament champion Susie Lacey are also in the mix along with Jan Brewer.The event also features a junior tournament with youngsters playing for the RUBiS Junior Squash Scholarship award. Some 16 of Bermuda’s best young players will be battling it out for the top prize.Competition starts next Tuesday and takes place every night from 6.00 at the Devonshire Squash Courts. The finals are scheduled for October 20.
