Minister of Tourism Wayne Furbert visited Hamburg, Germany, on Monday in a bid to attract more German tourists to the Island.According to Mr Furbert, around 1,000 Germans visit each year at present, but “we would like to significantly increase this figure in the future”.According to a press release, he and members of the Bermuda Tourism Board “made the case for Bermuda as an attractive tourist destination”.It added: “In front of an audience of journalists and guests in the Anglo-German Club, Minister Furbert outlined the distinguishing highlights of Bermuda: the mild and pleasant year round climate; a density of golf courses like no other worldwide; unique underwater diving venues amongst historical shipwrecks — all in the charming ambience of the one-time British colony.”He also introduced the new ‘Bermuda is so much more’ to the German media.“We believe that many prospective vacationers from Germany do not yet realise the potential in Bermuda” said Mr Furbert. “That’s why we would like to attract more attention to Bermuda, with our new marketing campaign ‘Bermuda, so much more” and under the motto ‘serendipity’ — as in ‘discovery’ or ‘happy coincidence’ — and generate enthusiasm amongst visitors from Germany.”
