Under-12s find going tough

Bermuda’s Under-12 select basketball team finished without a win at the recent Global Cup tournament at the Disney Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida after playing against overseas opposition for the first time.Ciached by former Bermuda international Charles Peters, the team played against teams from the Philippines, USA and Australia.Peters praised his team’s efforts and said the competition had been a valuable learning curve for the players.“Our kids have proved that they can compete globally with players of similar age and with far more resources than we have in Bermuda,” he said.Against the Philippines, Bermuda exhibited a never-say-die attitude but went down 30-28 in overtime. In their second game they went down to the US 42-17 before losing against Australia 39-24.Australia then beat them in the third-place match 38-14 with Bermuda finishing in fourth position.Prior to the tournament, Bermuda’s youngsters took part in a two-day training camp at the complex.
