A Bermudian doctor, Victor Scott Jr, is in line to take charge at the Bermuda Hospitals Board, follows the suspension earlier this month of Chief of Staff Donald Thomas.A spokeswoman said the BHB “are in the final stages of confirming Dr Victor Scott as Interim Chief of Staff”.An acclaimed gastroenterologist, Dr Scott is currently attached to the Howard University Hospital in Washington, DC.The son of educators Victor and Edna Mae Scott, Dr Scott last year received a mastership in the American College of Physicians.Dr Scott was a member of faculty at Howard University College of Medicine, from 1971 until his 2008 retirement.He served for 29 years as Chief of Gastroenterology in the Department of Medicine, and Vice Chairman of the Department of Medicine for 12 years. In 2000, he was appointed Interim Chairman.A frequent visitor to the Island, Dr Scott last year told The Royal Gazette that his “forte has been in medical leadership”.BHB said more details would be given once Dr Scott’s appointment was complete.
