Cann impresses Hamilton coaches

Teenager Kianu Cann is receiving rave reviews as he enjoys a valuable two week training experience in Canada with Premier Development League (PDL) side Hamilton FC Rage. The Devonshire Colts youngster travelled to the club as part of a joint venture between the Bermuda Brazilian Football School (BBFS) and Rage coach Brett Mosen.Mosen is a regular visitor to the Island, regularly attending their annual College Showcase at the National Sports Centre. While in Hamilton, Ontario, the 16-year-old will travel and train with the club while also visiting potential universities. In his first week with the club he has received praise from both Mosen and fellow coaches at the Canada side.“Kianu has settled in nicely and seems to be enjoying life with the club,” said Mosen. “Kianu was identified from the Bermuda Showcase earlier this year, the goal was to see how he would cope outside of his comfort zone and into a more competitive environment.“He has impressed, you not only have to play quickly but you also have to think fast, it can take some time to adapt to the speed of play and the competitiveness at the next level, he has adapted extremely well.“You can often base how well a player is doing by the reaction of the players at training, and he has been well accepted and does not look out of place at all.“He is technically competent, great attitude, reads the game and does the simple things very well. I think he has a great future ahead of him if he continues to work hard at his game.”Cann has participated in all of Rage’s activities, on field training, strength and conditioning gym sessions, pre-game warm up prior to the team’s 2-0 win over River City Rovers.Among the schools interested in the youngster are Laurier University in Waterloo after being impressed with his talent.“There are schools keen to talk with Kianu about him possibly attending and playing for their University, and I will be taking him to Laurier soon to view the school,” said Mosen.“It’s a pleasure having Kianu with us and hopefully we can bring in some additional standouts from the Showcase next year. The Rage play in the Great Lakes Division in the Central Conference of the PDL..
