‘Team building exercise’ held for Ministry of Public Works

Public Works staff spent an afternoon at Clearwater Beach as part of a ‘team building’ exercise.Workers from all departments within the Ministry were invited to the session at the St David’s beauty spot from 1pm to 3.30pm last Wednesday; it’s understood they were on full pay.A Ministry spokesman said in a statement: “The Ministry of Public Works is one of the largest Ministries in Government and the staff in the various departments rarely have the opportunity to interact with each other let alone meet one another.“The team building exercise is one way of achieving a sense of team spirit and working towards pursuing the goals of the Ministry with a common purpose and shared sense of unity.“Periodically many Government departments have team building exercises throughout the year and it serves to boost morale and serves to increase team work, understanding, and knowledge of one’s role and therefore boost productivity.“There is nothing new about this team building exercise, it has been held annually for years across Ministries/Departments within the Government.“There are a few new Departments to the Ministry of Public Works so we were working on building a team spirit to improve morale. This proved to be a very positive event.“The event officially started at 1pm, allowing staff to attend after lunch and leave at 3.30pm for those who finish at that time.”
