Browns trialist Crockwell hoping for NFL call-up

Jarrett Crockwell has vowed to make the most of his second chance of reaching the National Football League (NFL) after injury put paid to his hopes of being selected out of university.The Bermudian, who now lives in Georgia, was tipped for the NFL while playing for Shorter University before tearing his Achilles tendon, which put the skids on his professional ambitions.Now back on the comeback trail and playing for Middle Georgia Wolfpack in the National Football Association, Crockwell is looking to impress scouts as he continues his quest of playing in the NFL.He recently had trials with AFC North team, the Cleveland Browns and is waiting to see if he sufficiently impressed their coaching team.“Coming out of college I was a projected as a second-round pick but I tore my Achilles tendon,” said Crockwell. “I did rehab and since have played Arena Football and now i’m with the Georgia Wolfpack looking for another shot at the NFL.“Recently I had a workout with the Cleveland Browns and now am waiting to see what they have to offer, but for now I’m playing with the Wolfpack as well as coaching, and training professional athletes.”The former East End Primary School student has played American football since he moved to Georgia at the age of ten.He hopes to be a guiding light for other Bermudians who are trying to make the grade in the sport.“I have been playing football since I was ten years old, that’s when I moved to Georgia,” said the 24-year-old, who can play on both the offensive and defensive line.“I played recreation league, high school, and college football.“I started playing the game because that’s all we do down here in South Georgia, it’s a way of life.”Wolfpack are currently 4-0 in their first year in the league.
