Bus service is inadequate
June 11, 2012Dear Sir,Having visited Bermuda recently and over the last ten years, it appears to me the tourist industry has overlooked two main factors. Firstly, the bus service schedule needs looking at, especially when visiting cruise ships are in port. I actually waited nearly 40 minutes for a bus from The Reefs into Hamilton two weeks ago. On reading the timetable I should have a choice of a bus from Dockyard every 30 minutes or a bus from Barnes Corner every 15 minutes during the day. When boarding a bus back from the bus depot in Hamilton, it was annoying to find a number 7 bus to Dockyard and a number 7 bus to Barnes Corner leaving at the same time. Who looks at these schedules? A week later there were no buses on two mornings as the staff were called to meetings so everything drew to a halt! Who needs tourists anyway? My next point is the state of the facilities at Horseshoe Bay leave a lot to be desired and are giving all visitors to this area a very bad impression of the Island. The toilets and showers are a disgrace. Surely with tour buses dropping off an endless number of passengers from cruise ships at this destination it is an ideal opportunity to promote the beautiful island and its facilities?I love Bermuda and its people, but surely on the above two points at least there could be improvements.SANDY McILWHAMGlasgow, Scotland
